Redeemer Steeple Raising

Redeemer's new sanctuary is very close to completion, Huber construction tells us the building will be done by late August. This week the 70 foot steeple was attached to the steeple tower, it was a sight to behold. Regarding the significance of the steeple, note what the manufacturer (Jerry Bennett of Campbellsville Industries) of our steeple said-

"A steeple points one to the heavens, symbol of the dwelling place of Christ. Through city streets, across the valleys and lakes, through the countryside far and wide, the steeple declares Christ"

I have witnessed the moving music and inspiring video 6 or 7 times, and each time I get choked up. Been involved with many a “capital campaign/building fund” but none has ever moved me like this one! How exciting it is to be a part of a church where God’s Hands have and are directing each step.

I saw the picture of the steeple in the Kansas City Star last week. As an occasional visitor to Redeemer, I thought while my wife, Dorothy, is practicing putting her driving and getting to know the area better skills together, I made it a point to see for ourselves the beauty of what will soon be Sanctuary for Redeemer. Remembering what Redeemer and the area looked like some six years ago and what it has become today, The Doxology simply comes to mind. However I did enjoy the hymn used when I watch the video, it sounded very familiar and very uplifting. Perhaps my hearing and memory are not quite what they use to be (After all I turned 40 in January) could you tell me the name of the hymn? I have searched for the last 2 hours via and the OPC Trinity Hymnal Site I still not able to make the connection.

The Doxology

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in the Scripture alone to the Glory of God alone! Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solo Christo, Sola Scriptura, Soli Deo Gloria!

We were blessed to be able to watch the steeple raising, if even just over the internet. Awesome hymn by Boice to accompany the slideshow was a great choice. Praise God!

The hymn is by James M. Boice, written just the year before his death. It is titled "Give Praise to God" and can be found on the CD by Tenth Presbyterian Choir called "Hymns for a Modern Reformation".

I am confident it will soon find its way in to new hymnals.
