Happy Birthday to Jordan

My baby son, Jordan Micah, turned 5 today.
Dear Jordan,
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
Love, Daddy

As a father who made far too many mistakes with his own children, there is no greater joy in all this world than to have another shot at it! The opportunity to pray for, observe and instruct and love and spend time with our grandkids is truly a gift from God. Another joy, right up there, is getting to know so many devoted Christ-centered Covenant families at Redeemer. Watching them “train up their children in the ways of the Lord!” is another gift that I will never ignore. For I know many of Redeemer’s little ones will be called by God. And they will joyfully offer their lives as a pleasing sacrifice unto the Lord, serving Christ as pastors, evangelist and missionaries all over the world! Happy Birthday little Jordan! Mr. Woody will always pray for you! And I know that you, AJ and Nicolas will grow up to be great men of faith and powerful servants of God!

Tony, as you know Carmen and I have tremendous love and respect for you and Shari, and have really enjoyed getting to know your boys through sitting with them at worship and through various activities. I am so blessed by this blog and your love for all of your boys. Jordan is a special child of God and I praise Jesus for the covenant family that surrounds him. We must never take for granted the incredible covenant family that God has provided for them and all the covenant children at Redeemer. Please pass on our HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to Jordan (a day or two late!), and know that Carmen and I pray for him, for Nicko, for A.J. and for you and Shari daily. May the LORD bless you and keep you!

I bet you have I looked at that beautiful smile 10 times today. And every time I think of purity, innocence and complete surrender to what is good and everlasting.

Jordan: Hebrew; To Flow Down

Micah: Hebrew; Who is like God?

God's Steadfast Love and Compassion
Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over transgression
for the remnant of his inheritance?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in steadfast love.
19 He will again have compassion on us;
he will tread our iniquities underfoot.
You will cast all our sins
into the depths of the sea.
20 You will show faithfulness to Jacob
and steadfast love to Abraham,
as you have sworn to our fathers
from the days of old.
