Staggering

Roger gave me the heads up on this recent interview with Joel Osteen. It goes hand in hand with my previous post.

One has only to do a quick web search to find out what Mormonism teaches- apparently Osteen didn't want to get "hung up" with such an effort to know what might attack his flock (apparently the biggest in the country).

In a nutshell, The reason Mormonism is not Christian is because it denies one or more of the essential doctrines of biblical Christianity. Of the generally agreed upon "essential" doctrines (that there is only one God, Jesus is God in flesh, salvation is by grace through faith, and Jesus died, was buried, and rose from the dead physically), Mormonism denies three of these: how many gods there are, the person of Jesus, and His work of salvation.

We pastors can't be up on every aberrant teaching floating around, but not knowing the difference between Mormonism and Christianity just isn't acceptable. The sheep for whom Christ died deserve better from their pastors.

I thought this vid clip was interesting with Osteen, Stuart Smalley, and the Secret:

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough...

imho, it appears that all of the Osteen sound bites lately may be an indication of bigger things to come for him in the political arena and is being very cautious in how he reacts or responds to certain questions. Obviously he gains nothing by being polemic in the political arena but would gain tremendously by appearing more accepting/tolerant. It begs the question of what is he losing in this world or the next by appearing as such?

It seems that Osteen accepts anyone who just acknowledges the fact the Christ is their saviour regardless of their religous affiliations as a true believer.

Joel is not on my top list to be concerned about, Dave Hunt and his ilk, and the

Where this organization is not only misinterpreting John Calvin but also Scripture itself, but then again what are we to expect from those who follow the heretic Jacobus Arminius and even unknowing unto themselves are lost in Arminianism.

Dave Hunt is no friend to biblical christianity either, but he's not on Larry King live, Chris Wallace, national TV, and pastoring a 30,000 member church. Even Dave Hunt knows the difference between Mormonism and Christianity.

To me it’s pretty simple. The key essential that separates the Christian faith from all other religions/cults is to believe that Christ was and is very God. This means we uphold the doctrine of the Trinity. Plain and simple, any person who denies this basic truth, i.e. does not believe Christ was and is God, therefore, is denying the Trinity. Mormon’s do not hold to Trinitarian beliefs nor do they believe Jesus was and is God. To believe anything else… is a doctrine straight out of hell! Sweet talking Osteen needs to go back to Bible 101 and learn the basic foundations of the Christian faith. Contrary to Osteeen’s influential power and dynamic charisma or his 30,000 member church, our Christian testimonies must never based on opinions or how we feel.

Post-evangelicalism at its best. It's interesting though, that the LDS Leadership is playing the game of "smoke and mirrors" with what they believe (check out www.aomin.org for details). They are constantly changing, 'transmorfing', editing, re-editing, what they believe. Some LDS scholar-apologists are distancing themselves from some of Smith's teachings (wasn't he the founder of this religion)? Trying to get them to own up to their beliefs would no doubt reveal to the unsuspecting crowd that they in fact are not Christian. Instead out comes the smoke and mirrors with all the 'key' Christian terms/words. And Joel can't tell the difference. Tsk...tsk...Pastor Osteen.

So does Joel Osteen fall into this category? "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 Jn. 4:1; or this category: "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, ..." Prov. 12:15. This guy is the scariest kind of "christian" because he understands nothing about who Christ is and what Grace means to God's elect. Osteen is leading "his flock" astray in so many ways, and it is frustrating to see this and to see that this snake oil salesman has so many followers. I pray for his salvation and for the wisdom of God to overcome his followers.

Yes, Joel Osteen is a wolf and his followers are lost sheep just like those who are lost in Mormonism and other occults. As G.K. Chesterton said, “When people stop believing in God, they don't believe in nothing -- they believe in anything."

Well to me Dave Hunt has become an anathema in his diatribe against John Calvin and Calvinism. A relative introduced to me Dave Hunt’s creation series and various articles against Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, and Islam et cetera. Most of Mr. Hunt’s ramblings are pretty much common knowledge analyzes on various groups. A few years ago, Mr. Hunt took it a step further with his ad homonym diatribe, filled with straw man arguments, and unscholarly attacks against Calvinism in his book, What Love is This? Dave Hunt who has exposed to his followers the same errors of New Age Movements, Roman Catholicism, Darwinism, and Occults with great zeal is now trying to do the same thing with John Calvin and Calvinism.

If you go to You Tube, you can now view his 2-part series just type in the search Dave Hunt What Love is This? There are nine Segments about 9 minutes each, part 4 is of interest since now he lumps Calvinist with Roman Catholics. Through out he takes Piper, Packer, and Sproul out of context. To see how ignorant this man (who has sold over 4 millions books in 20 different languages) truly is on Biblical Christianity. I would also advise to go to http://www.monergism.com/ and do a search on him there and you find about 15 links covering this search Dave Hunt you will find about 15 links exposing this Apostate.
