RPC U wins championship, bids farewell to the Peruvian Predator

We have a soccer team made up primarily of RPC members that plays in an indoor league on Thursday nights. Tonight we won our 5th championship after moving up a division- we even went undefeated this session. We're old, not in great shape, but we know each other and play as a team. Where skills have eroded and physical prowess fail us, we have learned to put treachery in their place.

Beyond soccer, we love the fellowship with each other. It's lots of fun. Tonight was unusually special as we bid farewell to #5, Tomi "The Peruvian Predator" Ardiles. He has completed a three year fellowship in pulmonary medicine and has taken a job in his home state of Arizona. He will no longer suit up in RPC blue on Thursday nights. We will miss him greatly.

There are murmurs his number may be retired soon...

Go RPC United!!!

Pats on the backs all around for the championship. What a beautiful little dynasty your team has going. Hopefully you'll be able to withstand the loss of the, "Peruvian Predator," next season. Maybe to get through next season, you guys will have to power up the fellowship with some really good lasagna, cannoli and great salads (and prayer, of course).

By the way, your team picture is good enough the way it is. However, it would've been really funny to see the team with soul patches all around.

This comment is not really to post. It's just a heads up that your word, "treachery," isn't the word you want for this post (unless you've already looked it up). Your word has to do with treason. Does that have anything to do with soccer? A better word you could substitute if it fits the team's play would be, "stealth;" and, that's all you'd have to change, or not.

Congratulations to the 4 time Division D Champions and 1 time Division C Champions! Five seems to be a fitting number since you guys have won five titles, five was Tomi’s uniform number, and there are five members of his immediate household family (Tomi, Debbie, Zach, Tyler and Anya) whom we shall miss seeing in our home fellowship and Sunday morning services. May God’s Grace and Peace be with the Ardiles family we shall miss you and keep you in our thoughts and in our prayers and look forward to your return for the retirement ceremony of your number and your introduction into the RPC Hall of Fame. You know Joe DiMaggio the Yankee Clipper wore the #5 and always returned to Yankee Stadium on a regular basis, hopefully Tomi you and your family will be able to do the same!

Point well taken Brother Titus. I was thinking of the popular saying-
"Age and Treachery will always overcome youth and skill"

with "treachery" meaning "wiley" more than treasonous...
