Bet that wasn't a PCA church. I wonder if Jesus was asked to dance?
Wow Pastor Tony, I'm only 42 years old and consider myself fairly cool but believe it or not, I was kind of offended by that video. Let me outline it for you . . .1. This is just another example of the pervasive "Hey Look at Me" mindset in our culture. We are so individualistic that we forget about the fact that we are a part of a bigger picture (and in the case of Christian, a "BODY")2. Outside of the Covenant Christ referred to at the Last Supper (which we, in our churches at least, celebrate weekly), marriage is the most sacred of all covenants. While I don't believe a marriage should be a joyless occasion, I most definitely feel that it should be appropriately sober. In fact, in recognizing the seriousness of the commitment, I believe one may actually find the true joy of he occasion. (Of course, that insight is from a single man, of whom it could rightly be said that no father in his right mind would ever give his daughter away to . . .)
It took place in an undisclosed church in Minnesota so it was probably at an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ELCA church you know the loony liberal Lutherans. As for the woman pastor that is not uncommon at all in many mainline denominations such as the one I left the PCUSA. In fact the pastor who replaced the former pastor at my old church was a woman. As for the entrance that should have been left for the reception but then why be surprised when your church has slid into apostasy so too shall your ceremonies. As you so rightly pointed out in your last sermon Tony there is a difference between a God Centered Gospel and a Me Centered Gospel.
Did I see Jon Meyers in the wedding party? Man, some of those chunky boyz could bust a move.
Had a weirdly "musical theater" feel to it, didn't it? I'll betcha 10-to-1 that all those folks were in high school drama class together. :)
Based on their wedding, I'm sure they have a beautiful and meaningful marriage...NOT!
