Qatar gets the 2022 World Cup?

How ridiculous.

FIFA (international Soccer governing body) is about as legitimate as the committee that oversees the Olympics (IOC). They follow the money, that's the only explanation for awarding the biggest sporting event on the planet to Qatar. Qatar has less than 2 million people and has virtually no impact on the health and development of international soccer, apart from the money it must have paid to win this bid. Qatar has LOTS of money.

Japan, Korea, Australia, and the United States were the other contenders. While I would have loved for the U.S. to win the bid, I actually thought Australia deserved it most out of this group. It doesn't matter now, Qatar wins.

FIFA makes the IOC and NCAA look good in my opinion if that tells you anything non-soccer fans.

Qatar getting 11 votes in the first round is a red flag. Pretty questionable. I do want to see the zero-carbon footprint outdoor A/C which they are going to build, I will believe that when I see it.

I agree.

Mouf-I haven't seen you comment about the Wizards name change. What's your opinion?

I heard on the news, they don't even have a stadium and no air-conditioning anywhere. Bet the fans from the US won't bother going. I kind of thought maybe Charlie Rangel was behind this fiasco of a decision?

Reep- didnt like "Wizards", dont like "Sporting"... Indifferent... Glad they changed, thought they were/we kinda stuck as United and Union would be great names for KC Metro. Its forced until the club concept actually is finite.
