Al Mohler on NYC Abortion Rate

Abortion is a scourge in our country, a gnawing cancer that may well be the reason God disciplines us harshly sooner than later.

Leading this disgrace is my home state's largest city where statistics show that 4 out of 10 pregnancies end in abortion! 90,000 babies died in NY City last year alone.

God help us. Please!

Al Mohler offers his take on this chilling information. Read his post here.

Thus says the Lord: “A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.” Jeremiah 31:15

When I think about the leaders of baby killer movement, like our former governor, who now has been granted an even a move powerful platform in “controlling unwanted pregnancies” I know one day, they will stand before our Lord and every knee will bow as they weep, presented before them all the slaughtered precious lives that had no choice, simply because they turned their heads towards convenience.

I wonder how many are treatments for miscarriage? I had a baby die at 16 weeks, and had a D&E then at 17 weeks. (was not offered an induction, if I could go back again I'd induce). My insurance statement came back with the term "elective abortion" on it. I had not elected an abortion, this was very upsetting to me. I just look at those stats and wonder what the definition of abortion IS in this? Medically, even miscarriage is called abortion. Natural miscarriage is said to occur in a large number of pregnancies.

Just wondering.

You raise a very good question CL. I'll try to research that a bit more to find the answer.

The question regarding the statistics is significant. I imagine it is just a bureaucratic convenience, but what a nasty label to have hung on a person. The same thing happens in California, where all sex registrants are listed essentially as child molesters. I know of people who are registrants as a consequence of relieving themselves where they can be seen, and in the case of one young man who unwisely touched an adult female at the beach without permission.

Any real solution to the abortion issue will not simply to be regulating it out of existence. That simply drives it underground and enriches criminals. Unless Christians wish to embrace the expedience of assassinating abortionists in mass, it is a matter of reaching hearts and providing support for those in crisis. Including those who made the tragic choice.
