Happy Birthday Nico!

I'm not afraid to say how much I love my Nicobatzi! I love all my children, but today is Nico's birthday. He's 10 years old. Each of my boys are very different from the others. Nico is our quiet, contemplative child. He's perceptive about people, which translates to sneaky at times.

Like most parents I suppose, I think and pray often about what God will do with my children. My main prayer for Nico is that he sense God's personal love for him in a daily way. He professes faith in Christ and shows real fruit, at the same time, growing up a pastor's kid is tough on authenticity-gauging. Since he's less verbal than my other boys, our discussions aren't as lengthy, but nevertheless pretty deep when they happen. Nico has a personality something like my wife, yet not dead on. I'm always wondering what's going on in his head and heart.

On his birthday, I give particular praise to God for having us be his parents.

Dear Nico,

May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.

Love,
Dad

If you are ever able to play soccer again, I am going to have to come and see how good you really are. You know I used to play from about 7 to 18. It is one of my fav. sports.

I'm not cleared to play for a couple more months...but you better believe I'll be playing again!!!

Not yet sure about Jordon, my personal thoughts on his gifting is still out. But I feel this 10 years young warrior for the faith, Mr Nico is definitely a server/helper. With his sensitive sweet spirit I see him serving the Lord on a foreign mission field. I also think Nico is keen at discerning good from evil. And then there is AJ! Wow, I believe this brave, embolden warrior is destined for a calling in Evangelism, boldly preaching the Word where he will someday be called to serve.
I have said it in the past and say it again, what a joy beyond words to have the opportunity to observe so many young Redeemer children grow up in the Lord. I remember when we first visited Redeemer, Shari was carrying around Jordon in a carry all. I am proud to be Grandpa Woody to all of them. Happy Birthday Nico!
