There's a reason China is surpassing us...

It's no secret that China is catching up and surpassing the U.S. on multiple fronts. Here's one reason- see the picture? These are Chinese students in school. Us? We are having our third snow day in a row tomorrow!

Look, they are paying attention to the teacher! What a novel idea for our public school teachers to sugest.

Tony,

More than being in school, is what is being taught. These Chinese children are more than likely learning reading, writing, and arithmetic at a minimum (no doubt state sponsored-communist bent). Whereas, US public education curricula includes self-esteem ('Why I love myself, and You Should Too' by I.M. Worthy), values clarification ('Don't Force Your Morals on Me' and 'What is Truth' by P. Pilate), new sexual identities ('Heather's Two Mommies' and 'My Life as a Transgendered Teen' by Confused), and I could go on...all at a cost of $500 billion a year (Uncle Sugar's answer is always throw more money at it). Anyway, the battle only begins once you get 'em to the school house.

I have a student who's half chinese. He told me that Chinese schools will be closed for the next 2 weeks for Chinese New Year, so we'll be able to catch up!

It must be trick photography. Where are the cell phones, the ipod's, the laptops? How could they possibly teach a class with 30+ kids in it. They can't possibly be paying attention as the picture shows, they are obviously watching a movie that the substitute is showing.
