Remembering Mitch Hedberg

The death of incredibly talented, but drug-addicted, singer Amy Winehouse this week reminded me of one of my favorite comedians who died of a drug overdose a few years ago. I have watched these clips dozens of times but laugh anew every time I watch them again-

It’s such waste. Young people throwing their precious lives away for a temporary high. Drugs that can only rob life and destroy families.
Just watching this guy weave and bob around, you know he is on something.
I never heard of this guy but when I saw all those young folks weeping over this tattooed Amy Winehouse gal, it greatly sadden me. Sinful people, weeping over sinful mentors that only know how to shout songs of sin, destruction and death. I weep over my own sin and run to the One that gives life, and builds families, the One who will never let me down.

I used to think Mitch Hedberg was incredibly funny (I've heard him funnier than your clip, no offense, pastor.). Then, I hadn't hear anything about him for a number of years, until I'd found out he'd been dead for years at one point. Now, Woody Woodward's post is a great reminder that the Creator of the universe didn't create no "junk," no hollow man, to live with Him forever. He created man, redeemed from his sin, by His Holy Spirit, to live with Him forever.
