Much like Mr. Badman?

Perusing Pilgrim's Progress recently, I came across Bunyan's description of Mr. Badman and couldn't help think of how similar it is to many professing Christians today-

Mr. Badman..."whose religion hangs by in his house as his cloak does, and he is seldom in it except he be abroad..."

I think I shared with you that I finally got around to reading “Pilgrim’s Progress.” Using the original and the modern version, I read them side by side. I think what spoke to me the most was the fact that all of us are on some kind of journey. And wherever we go the enemy is lurking nearby, “seeking whom he may devour.” And wherever we go there are those that want to mislead us or those who may say the right words, but the caution is we must beware of the many “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” The safe path is to be so familiar with His Light that the moment darkness starts to emerge, we dispel all darkness by knowing His Word, “being strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might!” We not only put on the full armor, but ware it constantly, “always being prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within us.” And what better path to follow than where He leads. Like you said last Lord’s Day, “When we venture across boundaries, and tear down barriers, we may feel uncomfortable, but this is when we give Him the freedom to do His best work.”
