Happy Birthday Francis Schaeffer

Obviously Francis Schaeffer isn't concerned with the year of his birth from where he is right now, but for those of us touched by his life and work, it's a special day.

100 years ago today, Francis A. Schaeffer was born. My life was influenced greatly by Schaeffer's ministry.

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.   - Hebrews 13:7

That was a might powerful personal testimony of the life altering effect this great man of God had in your life.
On a side thought about profound statements. Last night at our Bible study one of our brave warriors for the faith made a proclamation that would be an appropriate claim about Schaeffer. Something so powerful I could see this thought coming from Schaeffer himself.
We were talking about Ephesians 5 and the proper role of men in relationship to Christ and their wives. One of the men was really struggling with forgiving himself. Saying “I just can’t grasp the concept of unconditionally loving someone who hates you and verbally abuses you 24 hours a day for 14 years.” Vic said “Only God’s super natural power will enable us to love like Christ and yet instead of dying for them, we must be willing to live for and treat a women like that as Christ has treated us. That’s why I put the Super on my natural! I can't do it myself.” Not really related but a good thought to share. said...

@ Woody, it does sound a bit like Schaeffer, especially his work True Spirituality, ch. 4, "In The Spirit's Power."

"So now we stand before two streams of reality; those who have died and are with Christ now: and we, who have the "earnest" of the Holy Spirit now and so, upon the reality of the finished work of Christ have access—not in theory, but in reality—to the power of the crucified, risen, glorified Christ, by the agency of the Holy Spirit." Schaeffer, pg. 59 (1971), pg. 53 (2001) True Spirituality

Thanks Tony for the link to FSS. What a day of post on Schaeffer Monday was. We captured as much as we could and put it on the FSS Blog.
