In reflecting on the peace and tranquility Nathan captured in this magnificent photo, I thought “What was the greatest example of calming peace foretold in the Bible?” I thought about your sermon, “Lessons in Storm Theology” (Mark 4:35-41) You told us, “Jesus took time to make sure His disciples truly understood their mission. Jesus knew ‘Storms were coming!’ When one passes, another one seems to be right behind. Some of the storms find you terribly afraid. Some of the worst of storms severely test your faith. But through every storm Jesus was there. He promised He would never leave or forsakes us.” And looking at that picture took me to verse 39, when Jesus spoke to the current storm and simple said, “Hush, be still! And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.”
This is the peace He promises, this is Christ’s calmness mirrored in this picture.
“The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.” Ps 29:11
